In a recent interview, Pitchford subtly revealed ongoing development, stating, "I don't think I've done a good enough job of hiding the fact that we're working on something...And I think people that love Borderlands are going to be very excited about what we're working on." He further hinted at a possible announcement before year's end, adding, "I have the biggest and best team that I’ve ever had working on what we know is exactly what our fans want from us – so I’m very, very thrilled. I can’t wait to talk about it!"
While details remain scarce, Pitchford's comments strongly suggest a new game is in the works. He also mentioned the studio is juggling "big things" and several projects simultaneously.
The anticipation for a new Borderlands game is palpable. Borderlands 3 (2019) and its spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands (2022), were both critically acclaimed, demonstrating the franchise's enduring appeal.
