REPO's developer is making key adjustments to the game's difficulty progression by introducing new mechanics every 10 levels. Read on for details about the upcoming Overcharge mechanics changes and the developer's activities during the recent open beta period.
REPO Development Updates
Overhauling the Overcharge System
Following the launch of an open beta for an upcoming update, REPO gathered valuable player feedback. One aspect that developer Semiwork is focusing on is the game's Overcharge feature.
The Overcharge mechanic lets players counter enemies by grabbing and hurling them against hard surfaces or away from their allies. However, using this ability isn't unrestricted. A dedicated meter builds up with use, and if it fills completely, the player character will explode.

Originally available from the start, the developers have decided to unlock Overcharge once players reach level 10. This is part of a broader plan to introduce new, difficulty-enhancing mechanics at every 10-level interval (levels 20, 30, etc.), with Overcharge serving as the first of these tiered challenges.
Semiwork confirmed that these mechanics will be integrated into the game's narrative. "This system will be tied to the lore," they stated. "It's not just a random gimmick. There is a meaningful reason behind it, and we'll share more details in the future."
Developers Participated in Open Beta Matchmaking

Throughout the recent open beta, Semiwork developers secretly joined random public matches to discuss potential improvements directly with players. Developer Pontus Sundström expressed his enthusiasm for seeing players enjoy the new content.
"I've actually played with many of you incognito, using the random matchmaking," Sundström said. "I've been asking questions and learning what you all find enjoyable."
Semiwork intends to use all the community feedback to continue refining REPO. Players can expect further updates soon, as the team has promised more information. For the latest news on R.E.P.O., check out our related article below.
