Overture DLC Not Linked to Lies of P's Final Cutscene Reveal, Director Confirms

May 27,2025 Author: Aurora

Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. However, at the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN discovered one mystery that the DLC won't solve: the jaw-dropping twist in the base game's final cutscene.

For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free hint: the final cutscene teases a direction for the Lies of P universe that has left fans both intrigued and eager for more. This scene, known as the Dorothy scene, features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to find "Dorothy," accompanied by the iconic striped socks and ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. This suggests a future integration with other public domain fairy tales, but according to Lies of P director Jiwon Choi, this twist won't be explained in Overture. Choi simply added, “Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future.”

Neowiz has confirmed they're working on a full sequel, Lies of P 2, hinting that the mysterious cutscene might be linked to that project instead. Yet, details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce. Choi emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, promising that when they're ready to share news or assets, fans will know it's because they're prepared to deliver.

The scene in question, the Dorothy scene, was the focus of our discussion with Choi. As detailed here, Paracelcus is seen talking on the phone, determined to find "Dorothy," with the visual cues pointing towards an expansion into other fairy tale narratives. However, Choi confirmed that this won't be explored in Overture.

Choi did provide some insight into what fans can expect from the Overture DLC. He encouraged fans to replay the base game, noting that it contains scattered hints about the DLC's content: “When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience,” Choi explained. “A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in the expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in the expansion.”

Choi also hinted that some fans are already on the right track with their theories, as he often reads them online and finds some quite close to the mark. Additionally, he shared that the DLC will take experienced players approximately 15-20 hours to complete. It will be accessible after a "certain" chapter in the game and continue until the end. Overture serves as a prequel, transporting the main character back to Krat just before its fall, featuring new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons. Choi kept the specifics under wraps, saving them for the release.
