Bring Large Dung Pods

The Hirabami presents a unique challenge: they rarely fight alone. This pack mentality makes them significantly tougher than facing a single Hirabami. Your best bet? Large Dung Pods. These will scatter the pack, allowing you to focus on one at a time, significantly increasing your chances of success.

Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo

Their aerial prowess makes melee combat a frustrating experience. Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo is your answer. This ammo can effectively knock them out of the air. If you're short on ammo, severing the Hirabami's tail yields a Tail Claw Shard, which can be crafted into more Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo.

Utilize Environmental Traps

The Iceshard Cliffs arena offers tactical advantages. Utilize the Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars to your advantage. A well-timed collapse can stun and damage the Hirabami, giving you a crucial opening.

Aim for the Head

The Hirabami's head is its weakest point, but its aerial habits make it a difficult target for melee weapons. Ranged weapons have a clear advantage here. Melee users should focus on attacking the neck when the creature descends.

Watch the Tail

The Hirabami's attacks are varied and unpredictable—bites, spits, and powerful dive attacks. While dodging these is crucial, don't forget its tail. A swift swing can easily disrupt your attack and inflict heavy damage. Maintain awareness of its movements to anticipate its attacks.

Capturing a Hirabami requires reducing its health to 20% or less (indicated by a skull icon on the mini-map). Once this threshold is reached, quickly set a Pitfall Trap or Shock Trap. Immediately follow up with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is of the essence; failure to tranquilize quickly will result in its escape. While capturing offers a guaranteed reward, it does reduce the chance of obtaining extra materials from hitting weak points.

Conquering the Hirabami requires strategy and preparation. Utilize Large Dung Pods, exploit environmental traps, and master the timing of your attacks. Good luck, hunter!

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
