Silent Hill 1 Remake Confirmed by Bloober Team, Konami

Konami made a major announcement during its Konami Press Start Live event: a full remake of Silent Hill 1 is underway.

The project is being developed by Bloober Team, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake.

Bloober Team's February announcement revealed their strategic partnership with Konami to develop new titles based on the Japanese publisher's IP, following the Silent Hill 2 remake's success. We now understand this collaboration includes revisiting the original Silent Hill.

Debuting on PlayStation in 1999, Silent Hill emerged as Konami's response to Resident Evil, establishing the franchise's signature elements: fog-shrouded environments, third-person perspective, and the unsettling town itself. Players follow Harry Mason's desperate search for his missing adoptive daughter Cheryl, encountering unimaginable horrors along the way.

With the Silent Hill 2 remake surpassing 2 million copies sold, Konami's decision to greenlight another remake comes as no surprise. The original game ranks as the clear fan favorite for revitalization, evidenced by an IGN poll where over 61% of 20,000 participants selected Silent Hill as the next remake candidate.

The Silent Hill 2 remake launched October 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and Steam (Xbox Series X/S availability remains unconfirmed), achieving 1 million sales within days - potentially making it the fastest-selling Silent Hill title to date, though Konami hasn't officially verified this milestone.
