Mitsuhiro Arita, a renowned artist celebrated for his iconic Pokémon Trading Card Game artwork (including the coveted Charizard), is bringing his distinctive style to Magic: The Gathering. This Secret Lair drop features four cards showcasing Arita's masterful creature designs, offering a first glimpse into his latest collaboration.
Explore the gallery below to view all four cards in Arita's Secret Lair:
While not Arita's first Magic card—he previously contributed a borderless Lumra, Bellow of the Woods—this four-card release marks a significant expansion of his involvement. Notably, these cards see play across various formats. The universally popular Lightning Bolt, the consistently powerful Murktide Regent (a Modern and Legacy staple since Modern Horizons 2 in 2021), the beloved Commander Light-Paws, and Shorikai, a popular Vintage Cube and Commander card (ranking 20th overall on EDHRec), are all included.
Wizards of the Coast's store page describes the drop: "With nearly 30 years of experience creating beloved art for trading card games, Mitsuhiro Arita’s work has become some of the most recognizable in the world. His first collaboration with Magic: The Gathering was on a borderless Lumra, Bellow of the Woods released in 2024’s Bloomburrow, which quickly became a fan-favorite. This Secret Lair Drop showcases his iconic creature design across four remarkable cards."
This Secret Lair will be available on the Secret Lair website, priced at $29.99 (non-foil) and $39.99 (foil). Both versions are available while supplies last, launching Monday, February 10th at 9 am PT. Given the quick sell-outs of recent Secret Lairs since the shift from a print-to-order system, interested buyers should act swiftly.
