Guides: Enhancing Your Pokémon Journey with Deino

Feb 22,2025 Author: Charlotte

This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, requiring trading or transferring for Pokémon Violet players.

Acquiring Deino:

  • Pokémon Scarlet: Deino can be found in Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Koraidon's high jump ability is necessary for Alfornada Cavern. Three-star Tera Raids also offer Deino, potentially with its Hidden Ability.
  • Pokémon Violet: Trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or transferring from Pokémon HOME (compatible with Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet) are necessary. Instructions for transferring via HOME are below.

Transferring Pokémon from HOME (Pokémon Scarlet to Violet):

  1. Open Pokémon HOME and move Deino from your source game to the Basic Box. Save and exit.
  2. Open Pokémon Violet within HOME and transfer Deino from the Basic Box to a PC Box. Save and exit.

Evolution:

Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) to expedite the leveling process.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon boasts a base stat total of 600, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid (+Speed, -Attack) or Jolly (+Speed, -Special Attack) Nature is recommended.

Stat Base Stat
HP 92
Attack 105
Sp. Attack 125
Defense 90
Sp. Defense 90
Speed 98
Total 600

Type Effectiveness:

  • Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
  • Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
  • Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark
  • Immunities: Ground, Psychic

Hydreigon's 4x weakness to Fairy-type moves can be mitigated through Terastallizing. Offensively, consider Terastallizing to gain STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus) on powerful moves. Its movepool allows for both physical and special attacking strategies. Flash Cannon (via TM) is a crucial Steel-type move to counter its Fairy weakness. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.

This revised guide provides up-to-date information on obtaining and effectively using Hydreigon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
