Focus Strike: Turning Tide
Perform a slashing attack targeting wounds. Hitting a wound triggers a Midair Spinning Blade Dance, capable of damaging multiple wounds across the monster.
Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode
The Dual Blades feature a unique gauge mechanic. Enter Demon Mode to benefit from increased attack power, movement speed, and evasion, as well as knockback immunity. However, this mode depletes stamina continuously and ends when stamina is depleted or manually canceled. Successful attacks in Demon Mode fill the Demon Gauge, leading to Archdemon Mode when full. In Archdemon Mode, the gauge decreases over time and is consumed by certain attacks, allowing for even more potent strikes. Both modes can be used interchangeably, and the Demon Gauge stops decreasing when you mount a monster, providing strategic advantages.
Demon Dodge
After a successful Perfect Evade, enter Demon Dodge to gain increased regular and elemental damage, enabling attacks during dodges. This state grants a 12-second damage buff, with subsequent dodges causing damage as you spin forward.
Combos

Mastering Dual Blades involves understanding how to chain attacks efficiently across Demon and Archdemon Modes for maximum damage output.
Basic Combo
Start with three consecutive Triangle/Y attacks to execute Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, and Circle Slash for reliable damage in various hunting scenarios. Alternatively, utilize Circle/B for Demon Flurry Rush – Spinning Slash – Double Roundslash to rapidly fill the Demon Gauge.
Demon Mode Basic Combo
In Demon Mode, enhance your basic combo with Demon Fangs, followed by Twofold Demon Slash, Sixfold Demon Slash, and finish with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for Demon Flurry I.
Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo
Upon filling the Demon Gauge, switch to Archdemon Mode for swift, concentrated attacks. Begin with Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B) in Demon Mode, then press R2/RT four times for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, and conclude with Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III. This seamless transition between modes delivers rapid, high-damage attacks.

Always Follow Up
Initiate with the basic Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B), then transition into three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B. This strategy fills the Demon Gauge quickly and converts it into immediate, powerful damage.
Keep Your Stamina Up
Since Demon Mode relies on stamina, maintaining high levels is crucial. Use Focus Strike on wounds to stop stamina drain during attacks while still filling the Demon Gauge, allowing for more aggressive assaults upon landing.
Dodging in Between Attacks
Without a reliable defense, dodging is essential. The Dual Blades' mobility allows you to evade out of most attacks and combos. Avoid overcommitting and watch for openings to strike.
Ensure Sharpness
The rapid attacks of Dual Blades quickly degrade sharpness. Incorporate the Speed Sharpening skill into your build to minimize downtime and stay in the fight longer.
