Metal Slug: Awakening delivers a modern update to the beloved 90s franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has undergone development and name changes before its Southeast Asia release in late 2023. Now, it's finally ready for a worldwide launch.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a renowned Japanese run-and-gun series, debuting in 1996 and created by Nazca Corporation. It has since expanded into a multimedia phenomenon.
While Metal Slug has seen previous mobile iterations (Metal Slug Defense, Attack, and Commander), Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
The game retains the core run-and-gun gameplay, enhanced with modernized graphics and new mechanics. Rejoin your favorite Metal Slug characters for exciting new missions. Features include a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and challenging Roguelike game modes.
