Unfortunately, securing the rights to the Lord of the Rings franchise proved unsuccessful, leaving the project unrealized. However, fans widely believe the concept held significant potential, citing the rich dark elements within Tolkien's works as ideal for crafting a chilling atmosphere.
Currently, Bloober Team's focus is on their new title, Cronos: The New Dawn, and potential future collaborations with Konami on Silent Hill projects. Whether the studio will revisit their Lord of the Rings horror concept remains uncertain, but the prospect of a game featuring terrifying Nazgûl or Gollum is undeniably intriguing.
