The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the eagerly awaited Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the current state of affairs in their uniquely nonchalant style.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, but with a twist that initially fooled the audience into thinking they were about to see a dramatic new drama series. The trailer's intense editing and dramatic music set an ominous tone... until Randy, Stan’s dad, and his sister Shelley appear on screen. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, asks her if she’s been taking drugs, suggesting, “Because I think it could really help you.”
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. Following the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and topical moments expected in the new season. These include multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a cameo by P. Diddy, and what appears to be another war with Canada—a plotline that long-time fans or those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut might have anticipated.
The teaser also confirms that the new season will air on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to immediate acclaim back in 1997.
