Wuthering Waves: Elemental Effects, Explained

Jan 07,2025 Author: Aaron

Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly in Version 2.0, introducing Elemental Effects that go beyond simple buffs and resistances. Previously, elements primarily affected character performance and enemy weaknesses. Now, characters can directly apply and benefit from these effects, creating more dynamic interactions.

Version 2.0's additions, including new Echo sets and character reworks, have significantly altered the elemental landscape. Let's explore the new Elemental Effects:

Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs

While elemental effects existed before, impacting players through enemy attacks (like Glacio's freeze effect), Version 2.0 introduces specific status effects for each element. These effects, applied via elemental attacks, often function as damage over time (DoT). Dodging removes these stacks.

Elemental Effect Effect Description
Havoc Bane Stacks periodically, up to 2. At 2 stacks, all stacks are removed, dealing Havoc DMG and reapplying to nearby characters.
Glacio Chafe Reduces movement speed per stack, up to 10 stacks, which freezes the resonator. Players can "Struggle" to shorten the freeze duration.
Spectro Frazzle Stacks reduce periodically, dealing Spectro DMG per reduction. More stacks = more damage over time.
Fusion Burst Stacks up to 10, then explodes, dealing significant Fusion DMG.
Aero Erosion Deals Aero DMG periodically. Stacks don't deplete to deal damage; more stacks = more damage over time.
Electro Flare Reduces ATK based on stacks: 1-4 stacks (-5%), 5-9 stacks (-7% + Magnetized effect), 10 stacks (-10%).

Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets

Currently, the utilization of Elemental Effects remains somewhat limited. Only a few Resonators, Echoes, and Echo sets directly interact with them:

Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:

  • Spectro Rover: Post-Version 2.0 rework, Spectro Rover uniquely applies Spectro Frazzle (2 stacks) via its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin. The Shimmer effect prevents stack decay, allowing continuous buildup.

Echoes and Echo Sets Related to Elemental Effects:

  • Echo Set - Eternal Radiance: (2pc) Spectro DMG +10%; (5pc) Spectro Frazzle inflicts increases Crit. Rate by 20% for 15s; 10 stacks grant 15% Spectro DMG Bonus for 15s.
  • Echo - Nightmare: Mourning Aix attacks deal 273.60% Spectro DMG. DMG against Spectro Frazzle-inflicted enemies is increased by 100%. Equipped Resonator gains 12.00% Spectro DMG Bonus.

While currently focused on Spectro Rover, the introduction of Elemental Effects suggests a potential shift towards more complex elemental interactions in future Wuthering Waves updates.
