'Back to the Future' Writer Firmly Rejects Any Prequels, Spinoffs, or Sequels

The iconic "Back to the Future" franchise will never see another installment, according to its screenwriter, Bob Gale. Despite the buzz around potential TV series inspired by the success of similar franchise reboots like "Cobra Kai," Gale remains steadfast in his stance against any further developments of the beloved series.
In a recent interview with People, Gale expressed his frustration with the persistent questions about the franchise's future. "I don't know why they keep talking about that!" he exclaimed. "I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?" Gale firmly stated that there would never be a "Back to the Future 4," a prequel, or a spinoff, emphasizing that the trilogy is "perfect enough" as it stands.

While Gale's words carry weight, the decision ultimately rests with the powers of Hollywood. However, any revival would require the approval of executive producer Steven Spielberg, who, according to Gale, shares the sentiment against furthering the franchise. "Steven Spielberg, of course, he's got to sign off on it too. And Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more Back to the Future. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven," Gale remarked.
Gale's previous responses to fans have been equally direct. In February, he had a stark message for those hoping for a "Back to the Future 4": "People always say, ‘When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, ‘F**k you.' "
