Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Apr 11,2025 Author: Lucy

Dell has revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs earlier this year, and now they've expanded the options available. Initially limited to a single graphics card, the RTX 5080, customers can now opt for the powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU alongside an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, starting at a competitive price of $5,499.99. What's even better is the swift turnaround time; Dell anticipates shipping these systems as early as April.

The $5,500 base configuration for the Alienware Area-51 equipped with an RTX 5090 GPU is more than just a starting point—it's a powerhouse. Featuring the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of high-speed DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a spacious 2TB NVMe SSD, this system is designed to deliver exceptional performance in both gaming and professional workloads. Although the Core Ultra 9 285K doesn't surpass the i9-14900K's performance as hoped, it's currently the best Intel has to offer. The system is cooled efficiently with a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell showcased the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025, introducing a chassis that maintains the iconic look of the 2024 R16 model while featuring significant updates. The I/O panel has been moved to the top, and the side panel now consists of a full-length tempered glass window for a better view of the internals. Airflow has been optimized with intakes at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design to keep the system cooler and cleaner. The internals have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands out as the most powerful consumer GPU available. Despite Nvidia's focus on software enhancements, AI capabilities, and DLSS 4 technology, the RTX 5090 offers a substantial 25%-30% performance increase in raster performance compared to the RTX 4090. It also comes with more and faster VRAM—32GB of GDDR7 compared to the 4090's 24GB of GDDR6. Due to high demand, finding the RTX 5090 at its retail price is challenging, with units often selling for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas:

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially eclipsed the RTX 4090 in performance, though the generational leap is smaller than usual. For traditional gaming, the uplift is modest, but the real power comes from DLSS 4, which significantly boosts performance in supported titles, albeit with a reliance on AI-generated frames."

Amazon offers an alternative with the Skytech-branded RTX 5090 gaming PCs at a more accessible price of $4,799.99, though they don't ship immediately. These systems feature the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, which delivers strong gaming performance, albeit with less prowess in workstation tasks compared to the Intel counterpart.
