Zelda Ports on Switch 2: Repair Equipment Using Zelda Notes App, Maybe
Jun 25,2025Author: Camila
Exciting news for fans of *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* on the Nintendo Switch 2—Nintendo is introducing a series of quality-of-life upgrades, one of which may finally offer a solution to one of the games’ most frustrating mechanics: equipment durability.
As revealed during a recent Nintendo Treehouse Live stream and later highlighted by YouTuber Zeltik, the exclusive mobile companion app for the Switch 2 versions—called Zelda Notes—now includes a Daily Bonus feature. Upon opening this function, players can spin a daily reward wheel that offers various in-game benefits, including meal effects, health and stamina restoration, and notably, an option labeled as "Equipment Repairs."
For those who have played either title, you're well aware of the durability system: weapons, shields, and tools break after repeated use. While it adds a layer of realism and strategy, many players find it frustrating when their favorite items shatter at critical moments. The potential ability to repair gear—even if not always guaranteed—could be a major relief for those who want to keep their trusted Flameblade or ancient bow intact.
However, this new feature does come with some limitations. The Daily Bonus operates like a roulette wheel, offering random rewards each time. That means while "Equipment Repair" is an available outcome, it's not guaranteed on every spin. Additionally, as the name suggests, the bonus resets once per day, requiring players to wait before trying again.
While it might not completely revolutionize gameplay, the feature could serve as a helpful buffer for those difficult boss fights or long dungeon runs where losing your best weapon would be especially painful.
Beyond repairs, the Zelda Notes app brings several other enhancements to the table. Both titles will now support achievement-like milestones through the companion app, giving players more goals to pursue beyond the main story. Additionally, new audio memories are being added, offering deeper lore and background stories about different regions of Hyrule—an exciting addition for lore enthusiasts and completionists alike.
These updates, combined with expected performance improvements on the Nintendo Switch 2, promise to elevate the already beloved open-world experience. For longtime fans who grew tired of the weapon durability mechanic, this could be just the upgrade they’ve been hoping for.
