While no official pitch has been made to Marvel yet, Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in preliminary discussions about bringing a Deadpool and X-Men crossover film to fruition.
According to THR's report, Reynolds envisions an ensemble film where Deadpool would play a supporting role rather than being the main focus. The project would highlight three or four other X-Men characters, with Reynolds specifically wanting these superheroes to take center stage and be "utilized in unconventional ways."
This proposed film would exist separately from the upcoming X-Men movie being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie. Reynolds' approach mirrors the early development of Deadpool & Wolverine, which initially began as a low-budget road trip concept before evolving into its current form.
This isn't the first indication of Reynolds working on an ensemble Deadpool project, but new details provide clearer insight into the scale and nature of these potential team-up adventures.
The specific mutant lineup remains unknown, though Deadpool has established cinematic history with several X-Men characters including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and Channing Tatum's long-teased Gambit appearance.
