MindsEye Xbox Patch Delayed, Enhanced Features Added

MindsEye, the action-adventure title from Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, launches today on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. However, Xbox players will miss the critical day one patch at release.

In a Reddit post last night, MindsEye developer Build A Rocket Boy explained that due to "platform certification differences," the 16 GB update won't be available on Xbox at launch. The studio strongly recommends this patch, stating it’s essential for the intended gameplay experience.

"It delivers vital enhancements," Build A Rocket Boy noted, including "gameplay upgrades, visual refinements, stability improvements, and performance optimizations." The studio couldn’t confirm when Xbox players will receive it, only promising it will arrive "as soon as possible."

Last week, Build A Rocket Boy urged fans to wait for this update instead of playing early copies, which surfaced before the official release. Initial feedback on the unpatched game labeled it a "technical disaster."

"We want players to experience the story uniformly on launch day, free from preconceptions," Build A Rocket Boy stated, addressing early access concerns. This delay means Xbox players will wait longer for the polished experience.

The studio’s mention of bias fueled speculation among fans, who linked it to co-CEO Mark Gerhard’s claims of a "deliberate campaign" to undermine the game and studio with negative social media from paid accounts or bots.

IGN raised this with Hakan Abrak, head of Hitman developer IO Interactive, which is publishing MindsEye. Abrak dismissed the claims, saying, "I don’t believe that. The game should stand on its own merits on June 10th."

MindsEye’s path to release has been unconventional, originally planned as an episodic campaign within the now-canceled creative platform Everywhere.

Now, MindsEye emphasizes its story mode, with world customization via Everywhere’s tools taking a backseat, though still included in the full game.

In MindsEye, you control Jacob Diaz, a former military drone pilot with a chip implant for direct hardware connection, which has fractured his psyche. Players must explore Diaz’s past to uncover the truth behind his ordeal.
